Professional Associations & Boards

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) – Department Service Officer –  Throughout our history DAV’s main goal has been to provide the absolute best, most professional claims representation to all injured and ill veterans and their families and survivors.  An integral part of that goal is fielding a knowledgeable, wee-trained nationwide corps of Department and Chapter Service Officers who can extend our outreach to those who need our services.

National Association of Concerned Veterans (NACV) – Served as Vice-President – NAVC aims to assist veterans that have been left out, locked out or lost in the shuffle of various agencies and departments.  NAVC offers a new start to these veterans struggling to return to civilian life on solid footing.  Our goal is to catch as many fallen soldiers as possible, and we hope to lead them down the path to healing and healthy living after their military careers.

The President’s Roundtable - Served as President from 2004 to 2007 of this professional association of CEOs which serves as an advocate for the building of Black & Hispanic businesses, shares business intelligence and gives collegial support to its members.  The success of the members brings opportunities for all qualified minority entrepreneurs and the community at-large.  During my tenure, the PRT was instrumental in the successful promotion and passing of Maryland’s Commercial Non-Discrimination Law.

Governor’s Commission on Minority Business Reform - Served as Business Sub-Committee Chairman in 2003 and submitted 50 recommendations to Governor Ehrlich, 30 of which have been implemented into law.

Baltimore City Community College Board of Trustees – Served as Chairman of the Board for the only community college controlled by the State of Maryland (Served as Chair for four Governors)

First Tee of Baltimore – Served as President (President Emeritus) - The First Tee of Greater Baltimore is a chapter of a National program established to provide after school and summer educational programs for City youth.  The First Tee teaches Baltimore’s youth, core values, and life skills through the game of golf.

The Jenkins Senior Living Community – Maryland’s first senior community to offer options to low and moderate income individuals for independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, rehabilitation, and medical day care.
